Farhad Omar

Farhad Omar holds a Master of Science in Information Systems (University of Stirling, Scotland) and a Bachelor of Economics (International Islamic University, Malaysia). He has been in the IT industry for more than 20 years and carries with him an expanse of work experience. Upon returning from the United Kingdom with the Masters degree he joined Informatics Computer School as the Graduate Studies Manager. Besides lecturing and managing the University of London Computing Science degree, he engaged in IT consultancy services providing IT support and management service for Sany Shipping and Prominent Shipping Pte Ltd from 1995 to 2005. In 1999 he was invited to join a large legal firm in Singapore, Khattar Wong and Partners, to manage IT services. The following year a group of lawyers set up Bizibody.com and he was asked to lead as the Chief Technology Officer from 2000 to 2001. Upon the crash of the dot com era he entered academic life with Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore as a contracted Lecturer in Business Information Technology from 2001 to 2005. This position required him to prepare, conduct and assess students for the Diploma in Business Information Technology. He is a trained expert in problem based learning methods. He has been engaged to teach at various higher education institutions in Singapore and Malaysia in information technology and security.

In 2003, he was invited to teach for University Technology Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur module in Data and Computer Forensics. He also conducted IT modules for the Singapore Police Force attending Diploma program at the Polytechnic. His varied and vast experience can be contributory to any growing organisation. He is well versed with UNIX based systems as well as Windows platforms. He provided technical support in Singapore, which covered all aspects of IT support including Network and Server Maintenance (UNIX), Desktop Support (Office Applications and General IT), Web presence development and support (Corporate Home Pages), Corporate Internet Application Development and Support (Web Based Human Resource Management System and General Ledger System). 

His Software Development Skills were in demand when he managed the Motorola Retail Dynamics Analysis Intranet site; an intranet based marketing data mining software. He was involved in the Motorola Channel Direct Online site (ColdFusion based), which is a vendor management intranet site, and has also set up a smart card based access system for the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur using Linux in 1995. He also architected the intranet applications (PHP based) for Institute Minda, a non-governmental organization in Malaysia. He managed the prototype development of an electronic Halal Certification Management System (PHP based) for Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) in 2003. He has developed Student Internship Portal and Online e-Learning Platform (PHP based) for Temasek Polytechnic Diploma in Business Information Technology in 2003. He has also developed and currently maintaining an e-tickcet helpdesk support system at Burns IT Services (eticket.burnsit.net) 

He held the position of Information Communications Technology (ICT) Solutions Architect of EMEFO Technology, a local start-up; in 2003 and headed Association of Muslim Professionals Holdings’ Information Technology and Special Projects Group and in 2005 was also Head of Information Communications Technology of Young Entrepreneurs Network Organisation, a non-profit Organisation. He is also a member of the Australian Computer Society. He had received the Entrepreneur of The Year Award for the role in the developing the blueprint for the Halal Certification Management System. 

He currently is providing Technology Consulting Services for clients in Perth, Western Australia. He has deployed more than 25 server based systems including Microsoft, Apple, and LINUX/Unix servers. He is actively promoting the use of Cloud technology for business and educational institution.
